The Ministry of the Environment and Forestry’s new Environment and Forestry Permit Evaluation and Control Team will:
- Inventorize forestry permits allocated by the Ministry of the Environment and Forestry, including permits for the utilization and conversion of forest areas, forest and natural resource protection, and environmental areas.
- Analyze permits and assess their efficacy through corporate coaching, biodiversity coaching, and income distribution approaches.
- Provide recommendation to the Minister of the Environment and Forestry to improve permit governance; and,
- Report work outcomes to the Minister of the Environment and Forestry.
In terms of Ministry of the Environment and Forestry permit inventory, the aforementioned permits relate to:
- Forest area use and release
- Forest product use and extraction
- Forest protection and natural resource conservation
- The environment
However, the decision letter does not specifically address the president’s pledge to review permits issued in peatlands. It does not mention inventory and review of peatland permits. It is unfortunate that actions at the ministerial level are not integrated with the president’s pledge, despite their close working relations.
