This regulation was issued as a follow-up to the Ministry of the Environment and Forestry Circular Letter No. S.494/MENLHK-PHPL/2015. Article 5, Paragraph 5 explains that the government will map burnt peatland areas based on peatland ecosystem function zoning.
Paragraph 7 assigns IUPHHK-HTI holders responsibility for burnt land in their concession area. They are requested to:
- Map and secure burnt sections of their operating area with government supervision,
- Revise their Business Work Plan for Forest Timber Use (RKUPHHK) and Annual Work Plan (RKT),
- Take measures to prevent forest fire,
- Divide canals in peatland areas, and
- Keep peat moist.
