Advocacy, Campaign, and Communication Manager
As the Advocacy, Campaign, and Communication Manager, Wahyu focuses on advocacy and campaign initiatives surrounding peatland issues and their related topics, such as land and forest fires, food estates, forest areas, restoration, and environmental law enforcement. An alumnus of Political Science from UIN Syarif Hidayatullah, he also routinely conducts policy analysis on peatland-related regulations.
Wahyu’s involvement in environmental issues began in 2004 with the Bojong Waste Management Plant (TPST Bojong) advocacy. He went on to delve into agrarian and farmers' rights issues at the Central Executive Board of the Indonesian Farmers Union (DPP SPI) starting in 2007 for seven years, shaping his understanding of environmental challenges from a grassroots perspective.
In early 2014, he assumed the role of ACSM Specialist (Advocacy-Communication-Social Mobilization) for PR TB-Aisyiyah, taking a more policy-strategic approach to advocacy within public health (specifically TB-HIV). His extensive background eventually led him to serve as the Campaign Manager for Food, Water, and Essential Ecosystems at WALHI National Executive from 2017 to 2022, where he focused on peatlands, seagrasses, mangroves, and karst ecosystems.

In addition to forest and land fires (karhutla), which have been the focus of attention, floods also pose a serious threat resulting from peatland ecosystem damage. Through the launch of the 'Drowned Peatland' study, Pantau Gambut highlighted the flood threat in Peat Hydrological Units (KHG) across Indonesia, which are divided into three regions: Sumatra, Kalimantan, and Papua.
