The meeting was attended by the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs - Wiranto, Minister of Environment and Forestry - Siti Nurbaya, Minister of Health - Nila Moeloek, Minister of Social Affairs - Agus Gumiwang Kartasasmita, Minister of Public Works and Housing - Basuki Hadimuljono, Minister of Education and Culture - Muhajir Effendy, Cabinet Secretary - Pramono Anung, Commander of the Indonesian Army - Hadi Tjahjanto, National Police Chief - Tito Karnavian, Riau Governor - Syamsuar, Head of National Board for Disaster Management (BNPB) - Doni Monardo, Head of Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) - Dwikorita Karnawati, Head of BRG - Nazir Foead, Head of Technology Assessment and Application Agency (BPPT) - Hammam Riza, and local governments.

Jokowi emphasized the need for synergy between state apparatus at the central and regional level, security forces, as well as related parties to prevent and control forest and land fires.

Ineffective cooperation and non-optimal initiatives cause forest and land fires to occur again

President Joko Widodo gave 3 directives to ensure proper management:

  1. The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) to carry out the process of creating artificial rain with a wider scope. Moreover, the number of troops and firefighters must be increased.
  2. Law enforcement officers to take firm action against the perpetrators of forest and land fires, both corporate and individual.
  3. Forest and land fire task force to take precautions in the surrounding areas and other locations so that the identified hotspots do not spread and cause more forest and land fires.
